Fluid Goes Virtual
"Go Virtual or Go Home" This is the message that Enterprise Software and Hardware companies are begining to send out to the market. With hardware getting faster and cheaper, memory prices dropping lower than ever before and the large diversity of server-based application requirements and lack of compatibility with newer server OS's; it has become apparent that virtualizing your company's servers is the best possible way to save money and eliminate "server sprawl" in your organization. When we began looking for a Virtual Server application to sell to our customers we looked closely at Citrix's XenServer because we could see that it would revolutionize the methods for delivering a traditional Citrix solution. As we looked closer, however, it became apparent to us that it was the best overall Virtual Server solution for the newest line of 64 bit server platforms because of it's native 64 bit architecture and hardware virtualization support built-in. Citrix XenServer is quickly turning heads in the virtual server arena because it is thin and almost invisible to the OS's running on top of it. Unlike other virtual server products, XenServer adds only about 5% overhead to each Virtual Server running on a hardware server; compared to up to 20% with competing products from VmWare and Microsoft.
