How to Install Fluid | Fax client

Thanks for using Fluid | Fax.  Please read through this information and if you have any questions, please contact our customer service department using the contact information below.

Fluid | Fax is available for use in two ways.

1. Access http://portal.fluid-fax.com and login with your username and passcode

-or-

2. Use the Fluid | Fax Windows Client application from Xmedius.

The Web portal is a "thin" website designed to allow you to upload common document formats for fax from any Internet-connected PC or MAC.  For more extensive functionality, however, you might want to use the Windows Client Application which can be installed on most any Windows-based PC.

Here is the Download and Install instructions for the Windows Client:

  1. CLick on this link to download: ftp://portal.fluid-fax.com/client/ff_client.zip
  2. Once downloaded, open the zip file by right-clicking on it and selecting "Extract".
  3. Double click on the Setup.exe file which is created to launch the installation.
  4. Select your language from the Drop-down box on the "Choose Setup Language" window and click "OK".
  5. Click Next to continue installation and accept the terms in the license agreement before clicking next.
  6. Select your Destination Folder or accept the default to install into c:\program Files\XMedius and click "Next".
  7. Under "Custom Setup", "SendFax" and "Coversheet Editor" are already chosen.  If you wish to install the Phone Book feature, click the "+" next to SendFax and click the selection box next to "Phone Book".  Select "This Feature Will Be Installed on Local Hard Drive".  You might also choose to install the Coverpage editor as well.  All other features do not apply to Fluid Fax.  Click "Next"
  8. Under "Web Server Access" input portal.fluid-fax.com:8080 in the "Fax web server:" field. Click Next.
  9. Select "The fax server's XML gateway interface (direct connection to the fax system) on the SendFAX Connection Configuration screen and click "Next".
  10. Click "Install" on the "Ready to Install the Program" screen.
  11. Once Complete you will be notified.  You may click the "Finish" button to close the Installshield Wizard.
  12. It you are prompted to restart, please do.

When you're ready to use the Windows client, you have two methods:

When prompted for your username and passcode, use your email address as the username.  Your passcode should have been sent to you in your introductory email.

1. You may use the "XMediusFax" printer to simply print from within any Windows application.  This allows you to easily fax your documents just like you would print them.  Once selected, the SendFAX client is launched so you may review your fax and populate the coverpage with the appropriate information.

2. You may launch the SendFAX client by going to Start | Programs | XMedius | SendFAX.  From here, you can fill in your coverpage and attache documents directly to the fax just as if you were sending an email.
