Increase Your IQ: Phishing and Working from Home

Increase Your IQ: Phishing and Working from Home

Identifying phishing attacks isn’t as easy as many make it out to be. Most everyone considers themselves like Anthony, the IT wiz with all the answers. Very few think they’re like Cecil, totally ignorant of phishing and unsure what to do when one arrives to their email. Most of us fall somewhere in between.

Working in IT and managing this security awareness platform, please believe me, it is not always easy to spot a phish… but that's okay. The goal is not to make you and your users paranoid over every email received, it’s simply to keep you on Alert, so you’re better and better spotting suspicious email. If it doesn’t “feel” right to you, it probably is right to flag it.

If you have concerns regarding any email, whether it’s a phish or legitimate, don’t hesitate to reach out. I have customers contacting me regularly for extra assistance, forwarding suspicious emails so I’m able to verify their validity. Your primary techs can help as well.

Please remember, our priority is keeping you and your company safe in this increasingly dangerous, digital world.

Phishing Attacks and SPAM on the Rise

Be aware, hackers are ramping up their attacks with the ongoing work-from-home and social distancing efforts in place. They’re taking advantage of the changing workforce dynamics and other distractions. The F.B.I. has released a bulletin about COVID-19 fraudulent emails. We, ourselves, have observed an increase in phishing and other inappropriate emails being sent to users. The risk is greater today.

If you’re concerned about you or your users’ security working remotely, please let us know. We don't just fix broken computers. We’re able to help you evaluate your business processes and identify the right tools and methods to optimize your efficiency, especially while working from home.
